Box of Whims held at Seattle Public School Archives

Items relating to Broadway High School have been found in many places:

  • The Seattle Public School Archives has a collection of Sealth, Whims, Squibs, and a variety of photos, records, and ephemera.

  • Seattle's Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) has some Sealth and a circa 1908 pennant.

  • The National WWII Museum in New Orleans has a 1944 Sealth that they use in a K-12 virtual field trip exercise on primary sources.

  • The University of Washington Libraries hold Sealth, Whims, photographs, newspaper articles, books and the personal papers of a number of BHS Alumni which include school artifacts.

  • BHS faculty and alumni published around the world, including fiction, non-fiction, and academic works.

Having these materials in so many places is great for exposure and redundancy (for preservation) but may make it hard for a researcher to know where to go for all the pieces. One of our goals is to aggregate the various locations into a finding aid that assists researchers in their work.
