Discoverability is huge in information services--if you can't find it then you can't use it. That's why we've spent time strengthening the relationships between the institutions that have a stake in the BHS history--so we can share access to each other's resources.
Sometimes these relationships can happen digitally. For instance, we found that while BHS has a lovely photo and historical relevance verbiage on Seattle Central College's Wikipedia page, BHS itself does not have its own entry.
We are remedying that. I recently sat down and put together some basic information about the school, its alumni activities, and our recent work. Now we're waiting for Wikipedia volunteers to approve the article for public viewing.
Once the article is "live" on Wikipedia, it increases the chances that internet searches for BHS will result in this information and directions to the BHS Archives. It will also make it possible for researchers, historians and alumni families to add any information that they have.
