Seattle’s Lakeside School was created in 1971, the merger of two schools: the women-only St. Nicholas, founded 1910, and the men-only Moran-Lakeside, founded 1919. Well-known alumni include Microsoft founders Bill Gates and Paul Allen, as well as members of the McCaw family of McCaw Cellular and Clearwire fame.

The archives, named for a St. Nicholas alumna, was conceived in 1984 to, as the school's board of trustees stated, "ensure that the history of the school would be preserved and integrated into the lives of students, alumni, parents, friends, and employees past and present."

The archives enjoy high visibility through a History & Archives link in the “About Us” drop-down on the school’s landing page. Resources include a collections management policy, a donated materials policy, deed of gift form, and a list of "Contributed Histories" that have included significant references to the school. The site also outlines policies for research and use.

This seems to serve as a good model for what could be done to make the Broadway High School Archives more accessible to alumni, students, and researchers.
