Directed Fieldwork Opportunity!

One of the best things you can do in your MLIS training is to throw yourself into a DFW (Directed Fieldwork) that allows you to put your classroom knowledge to work in a real-world setting under the guidance of a trained professional.

It looks like the Broadway High School Archives will have lots of possibilities to offer future students so we asked our sponsor, Lynn Kanne, the dean of libraries at Seattle Central College, if she would be interested in sponsoring more students in the future. She said yes!

We're still working on a job description, but UW iSchool students should keep their eyes peeled for iCareers listing in the summer or fall.

Directed Fieldwork is an excellent way to engage with and gain skills in specific areas related to the field, allowing students to earn credit for their participation in practically applying what they have learned, while also learning on the job. DFW's are an excellent way to gain experience and feel out a particular area of interest, and highly recommended!
